A Change In Career Direction

I turn 33 this year, and I started this blog a few years ago. Much has happened since then. I finished gradeuate school and began teaching at South Carolina State University. I still hold to my research agenda--homeless families--,but now I am starting to see the need to serve more in a leadership capacity for young early childhood professionals throughout the state.

Consequently, I'm going to add much more of my time to advocating and lobbying for better early childhood in our state. Certainly, I should have been doing this more already; however, it's quite amazing how many hats you have to wear in you job and how much time it takes to complete the multiude of roles you have been given.

Hopefully, I can get the student early childhood organization re-started at my school. It's a challenge because many of my students are first-time college kids who have their hands full just trying to graduate. They often have little time left over to devote to organizational work.

We'll see what happens....
