What Is She Known For?
Her HIGHLY trendsetting work on social justice and feminist post-structuralism in early childhood education. She focuses on using the work of Michel Foucault and other post-modern theorists' perspectives to inform her work in deconstructing the institutions of early childhood that are so seemly indestructible (i.e. developmentally appropriate practice). One of her most recent and well-known books on the subject is Doing Foucault in Early Childhood Studies.

Nancy Freeman Voted President of NAECTE

Nancy Freeman, an associate professor or early childhood education at the University of South Carolina known for her ethics work in the field, was recently elected president of the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators (NAECTE). The professional organization represents thousands of early childhood scholars working in higher education in the United States and abroad.

She will take office on November 7.
